Parchment Dreams
© by January Grey
Swirling snow frames your face
desire flurries a silver wind
blue notes melt a frozen mood
the rhythm of your heart
on mine, a memory
Our Autumn song
wool hooded days of carriage rides
a pumpkin moon
as one we breathed in flannel
When Winter sang
scant satin nights
one flame we burned,
till ashes mourned
to be the lighthouse in your soul
I hum while you're not listening
Frost clouds the pain
with steamy breath
hands pressed against
your fragile glass
etch my desire
to warm your heart
with Springtime
To crack your sky
with lightning bolts
to dance atop your thunder
I yearn for Summer storms
of tropic rain
to thaw resolve
that drifts upon a gallant wind
Remember best our cottage days
soft candle's glow
a fire roars within my soul
On fieldstone hearth
burns long the hours
spent deep inside sweet
parchment dreams
at home with you
the quill that scribbles
promises of tender nights
with love arranged so perfectly
within our poet hearts.
